Knose’s Exclusion Periods are generally shorter than many competitors, especially for illnesses which have a 14-day wait compared to the 30-day wait common with other brands.

Knose allows you to choose your Annual Excess level ($0, $100, or $200 annually), giving you control over how much you pay out-of-pocket (Co-Payments) before insurance kicks in. Unlike some insurers that charge per claim excesses, Knose applies excess annually—meaning you won’t be hit with repeated costs for ongoing conditions.

Some insurers impose treatment-specific caps, such as limits on vet consultations. Knose has no sub-limits on standard vet treatments, meaning your total annual benefit limit applies across all conditions and treatments (provided that they are not assessed as a pre-existing symptom and condition).

  • Cruciate Ligament Conditions: Injuries to the ligaments in the knee.
  • Tick Paralysis: A potentially fatal condition caused by tick bites.

Insurance Premiums increase as pets age, but the rate and frequency vary by insurer. Knose maintains a fair and predictable approach to Premium adjustments, ensuring pet owners aren’t caught off guard by unexpected hikes.

Knose allows you to customise your policy by selecting a Benefit Percentage (70%, 80%, or 90%), an Annual Limit (up to $25,000), and Optional Benefits like Dental Illness, Behavioural Conditions, and Specialised Therapies. This flexibility helps tailor coverage to your budget and your pet’s specific needs.

Limitations to Policy Changes

  • You cannot increase your Annual Limit after purchasing your policy; you can only decrease it.
  • The Benefit Percentage can only be increased at renewal, but you can decrease it at any time.
  • Optional Benefits can only be added when your pet is under 3 years old, and can be removed at any time.
  • Adjustments to the Annual Excess (if selected) can only be made at renewal.
  • If you switch from another insurer, Knose may waive waiting periods for injury and illness, provided the coverage is equal or lesser, and your previous policy was active for at least 12 months. You’ll need to complete a waiver application form and submit your previous Certificate of Insurance to apply.
